What started as a family helping their friends and family, quickly turned into a nationwide movement!

  • Christen & Cory Short

    Cory - Marketing & Promotions (BOARD MEMBER)

    Christen - SECRETARY of VSDR, Head of Management,

    These two are the bread and butter of our organization. They are also lifetime members of the Swannanoa Valley, and local business owners. Without them, this entire organization would not have been possible. They graciously handed over their entire music park venue, Silverados, so that Ian and Jenalee’s disaster supply hub idea, could have a pace to call home.

    Cory is known for his huge heart for people, and his deep love for community events and concerts that bring big smiles to many faces. They are best described as him being the creative soul behind the ideas, and Christen puts her soul into making everything happen seamlessly all while loving on people. They work endlessly to build and manage events, spearhead advertising and outreach, offer team support, networking, and coordinating vendors of every kind.

  • Jason & Amy Ward

    Jason - Social Media Expert, Information Journalist (BOARD MEMBER)

    Amy - TREASURER of VSDR, Communications Liaison

    Jason was born and raised in our valley, and Amy has lived here since the age of 7. They are local business owners who feel thier purpose in life is to help others. Galatians 6:2 is their life verse, and they try to live up to that in all ways possible. They have a broad outreach and have utilized that for years to help fellow humans. Now they are focused on using their resources to keep eyes on this valley indefinitely, so that we are not forgotten in our greatest time of need.

    Jason loves being out in the field raising awareness, and spending time with our volunteers from all over. Amy loves to connect with people online, assessing needs of people and connecting them to solutions.

  • Ian Monley & Jenalee Tipton

    Ian - SITE COORDINATOR (BOARD MEMBER), and his fiancé, Jenalee - CHAIRMAN of VSDR, Administration

    Our founding couple who have been at the heart of this idea since it’s conception. They attended Owen High School together and take great pride in calling their Swannanoa Valley, home. Together with their family, they have been working tirelessly to help all members of their community.

    Ian is on site daily managing the operation from A-Z, and Jenalee in addition to that, makes sure all of the T’s are crossed and I’s are dotted on the back end as well.

    They have been the true definition of hands on from day one. they have put in more physical hours than can be counted. They are in charge of organization from volunteer teams to supplies, to facilitating storage options, to scheduling the supplies inbound and outbound of the donation center. They take care of maintaining an order of operation and assessing the ever-changing needs of the grounds. There is probably not one item located at our Swannanoa/Black Mountain supply hub that their hands haven’t personally touched. They love on our volunteers endlessly and give graciously to those in need.
